Storymoja: Spreading the Joy of Reading Across Africa

Storymoja is a 16-year-old African publishing company committed to getting “a book in every hand.” We publish a wide range of children’s books—from storybooks and textbooks to revision guides, reading trackers, activity books, and career resources.

To expand access, we founded www.startalibrary.org, which has grown into the independent Start a Library Trust, with 211 school libraries established so far.

We promote a culture of reading through storytelling events, book clubs, spelling bees, writing competitions, workshops, and more. In partnership with the Hay Festival (UK), we organized Africa’s largest international book festival.

Now expanding into Uganda, Storymoja is partnering with schools and educators to promote literacy and inspire a love of reading in every child. Through impactful programs and partnerships, we bring books to life and empower both children and adults to be champions of reading.
